Nomadic Awning and Mounting Brackets for Airstream Basecamp
Time to ditch that lame “visor” and enjoy endless shade and cool temperatures in your Airstream Basecamp. We’ve installed an assortment of awnings on a variety of Airstream Basecamps over the years — a feat, even Airstream shied away from — and, with the knowledge gained from that, we are now offering an Awning Kit for the sun-baked Basecamp owner. Designed by our in-house engineer, our easily installed kit can be done in under 30 minutes with a few simple tools. There’s no modification or drilling to the Airstream Basecamp, and the awning can be removed just as easily as it was to install.
Our Basecamp Awning kit uses the easy-to-deploy and spacious Nomadic Awning by Overland Vehicle Systems. Now, you can say goodbye to gnarly sunburns and say hello to sweet shade when kicked back outside of your Basecamp. Once the brackets are installed, it takes five minutes to deploy the awning. Likewise, it takes all of five minutes to collapse the poles, stow them into the front aluminum extrusion, roll the whole thing up, and zipper it into the water resistant 600D Poly Cotton Rip-Stop Cover. Bada bing, bada boom.
The Awning Kit works on all models of Basecamp. This includes the original 1st gen Basecamp, 2nd gen (Basecamp 2.0). Basecamp X, and the Basecamp 20.

Do I have to drill holes in my factory fresh Airstream?No, you don't have to modify the body in any way. The awning uses a clamping mechanism to install in the factory roof rail

How does the awning attach to the Basecamp?The awing uses two brackets designed to attach the Awning to the Factory drip rail running along the exterior roof and wall seam.

What do you do about the weather stripping that has to be removed for install?It's easy to pop out and trim where the awning brackets install. You can keep the pieces removed, and reinstall them with some black sealant, or replace the plastic strip altogether to return to stock.

Is the awing easy to remove?Yes, there's four bolts used, you'll need to un-fasten them to remove the Awning.

Will this work on my Green-and-Tan Eddie Bauer Edition Basecamp?No, there's no Eddie Bauer Basecamp... but, wouldn't that be sweet?! In all seriousness though, the kit works on every style of Airstream Basecamp

What are these "L" shaped brackets for?OVS includes "L" Shaped brackets with their awning for installing on roof racks. You don't need to use these with our brackets. Recycle them, or stash them away and add clutter to your your life.

Does the awning let rain through between the Basecamp Body and Nomadic Awning?Yes it does. Because of the curvature of the Airstream Basecamp's Body there's a small gap at the ends of the awning that'll let water run down the side

Will the Awning cause my Basecamp to lean?The Nomadic Awning is light enough that it will not cause your Basecamp to lean

Does the awning fit the Basecamp 20X?Yes! This awning fits all Airstream Basecamps, but keep in mind the 20X is very tall, which makes it difficult to reach the awning to deploy with out a small step ladder.
