The Winnebago EKKO is already a unique beast—compact, off-grid capable, and based on the rock-solid Mercedes Sprinter AWD chassis. Around here, we call it the Sprekko (Sprinter + EKKO, naturally), and we’ve been seeing more of them come through the shop as adventure van life continues to merge with the overland crowd.
This particular Sprekko came to us already well-modded by its owner. But, it still had room to grow. That’s where we came in.

Why the Sprekko Matters
The EKKO’s use of the Sprinter platform stands out from your average RV—it’s nimble, built for rough roads, and backed by a deep well of aftermarket upgrades. At Reparadise, we’ve been building adventure rigs since 2013. When it comes to upgrades—whether it’s suspension, electrical, or cabinetry—we’ve got the experience, gear, and vision to make it happen cleanly and reliably. In the case of this Sprekko, the owner added Super Single wheels and tires, installed Van Compass suspension, and then set out to maximize electrical performance. They started by covering every inch of the roof with solar, and reached out to us to double it’s battery capacity.

What We Did
This rig already had a 1000W solar setup and a full Victron power system—great start. But to make it truly off-grid capable, we made a few key upgrades:
✅ Dual Front Shocks
We added an extra shock up front—so now it has two per side. That means better dampening, smoother rides on rough terrain, and less fatigue on both the vehicle and the people riding in it. This also helps mitigate the sway enhanced by the addition weight from the solar.
✅ Double the Battery Bank
We installed a second 630Ah lithium battery (for a grand total of 1260Ah), giving this Sprekko days—or even weeks—of runtime off-grid. To make it fit, we rotated the battery layout north-south and extended the bench 4 inches. The result? Massive power with minimal impact on the interior footprint.
✅ FreedomVanGo + Victron = Clean Wiring
We used FreedomVanGo’s slick second-battery kit, complete with a 250A breaker for each battery, all feeding into a Victron Lynx distribution hub. Serviceable. Clean. Reliable.
✅ Victron Orion Charger
We also tapped into the Sprinter’s chassis alternator with a Victron Orion DC-DC charger, pulling an additional 50 amps to keep that massive battery bank topped off even when the sun’s hiding.

The Takeaway
Is this the ultimate Sprekko? Hard to say. But it’s a hell of a lot closer now.
At Reparadise, we’ve spent the last decade dialing in Sprinter-based builds—and we’re just getting started. Whether you’ve got a Winnebago, a Revel, or a full custom adventure rig, we’ve got the parts, the know-how, and the fabrication chops to make it perform like it should.
