At the heart of our power systems for Mercedes-Sprinter-to-Adventure-Van conversions and timeless Airstream Restorations, you’ll find the Dyness B4850 — a 48-volt, server-rack style battery for off-grid homes. Why would we choose a battery designed for residential off-grid applications, when everyone else uses batteries designed for vehicles? We thought outside the box. And, rather than use a battery profile originally designed for engine compartments, we specified this LiFePo4 battery for its impressive capacity of 2.4 KWH, and it’s slim form factor. A Sprinter Van might look large on the outside… but, once up-fitted for Overland-style trips far from civilization, space becomes scarce.
We found that using a server-rack style battery for off-grid Homes allows much higher power density for the available space. Our power systems can boast 9.6KWH (four Dyness 4850 batteries), in half the space of a comparable 12 or 24v conventional Lithium battery setup. Most importantly, our clientele are, ahem, power users… and can’t afford interrupted energy during extended periods of inclement weather or low solar input.
