This galley box allows you to add a sink and a large storage space to your camper van

Designed to house the Dometic VA8005 stainless steel sink, our Galley Sink Box (Cabinet 1) features a false front above a large door. The large door allows you to use Jerry cans for fresh and grey water — if you don’t plan on adding holding tanks to your van build. In our Sprinter Van Camper builds we use this cabinet box at the end of the galley by the sliding door, and plumb the sink to a wheel well fresh tank and an under-mount grey tank.

  • I don't want a sink... can the false front be a drawer?
Technically you could make a drawer and modify the box to work this way, but it'd require some solid cabinetry building skills to make it look nice. Right now, we're not offering this as an option, and you'd need to do the customization yourself or hire a carpenter.
  • Does the box come with a sink?
This is only the Cabinet box and hardware. No sink, supporting plumbing, and other components are included. Only cabinet hardware.
  • Can I use a different sink?
You "should" be able to use any sink that's under 16in in diameter or so... but, after a decade of building custom stuff, we're not going to guaranty it'll work. We like using the Dometic VA8005
  • What kind of countertop should I use?
We recommend a countertop at least 3/4in (19mm) in thickness. We typically go as large as 1.5in thick with hardwood glue-ups or butcher block countertops for stability, and our solid surface countertops run around an inch thick.
  • Can I modify the box to fit my needs?
Absolutely! The 3/4in dimensions are easy to work with, and the light ply holds screws pretty well (you can strip out a screw if over tightening). For heavier or load bearing items, we'd recommend using Tee Nuts and machine screws or some other type of backing plate. Below you can see an additional flip-up table and a Lagun table system base added to the sides of our Galley Sink Box.
