Details
Due to advancements in battery technology over the last decade induction cooktops, like this Safiery Dual-Burner RV Cooktop, are understandably taking market share from the ol' standby liquid propane (LP). In the world of off-grid camping for RVs and camper vans alike, space and energy consumption are two vital constraints.
In the past, grandpa typically kept two standard propane tanks on hand for cooking and heat when camping... and when the tanks went dry, it was time to head to town for more. Sad Story. Now, with a solid battery bank, a couple of solar panels, and the Safiery Dual-Burner RV Cooktop, you can cook with nearly endless free energy. All this in less space than two large propane bottles. Welcome to the future.
When our Sprinter Van and Airstream Restoration clients want a built-in cooktop, we go for Safiery's products because it's specifically designed for Marine and RV use. Unlike the 120v Induction cooktops at your local big-box store , these Cooktops feature robust construction like a German-sourced IGBT (Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor). This module contributes to the efficient and safe use of off-grid induction cooking with inverters by precisely controlling the high current draws... and is something the induction cooktops designed for residential use lack.
The residential cooktops are also designed for pretty much-unlimited power draw -- typically up to 3600 watts. Your RV-based cooktop is limited to what the inverter can handle, which is around 2000-3000 watts max. The Safiery Induction cooktop will automatically drop draws to a hob if power is turned up too high, to avoid an Electroboom and save your inverter. So to recap, residential induction cooktops could not only damage your inverter or trip circuit protection, their construction methods are not designed for the dust and vibrations associated with 4wd off-grid camping.
Sure, you could buy two induction cooktops from Home Depot for the price of this Safiery Cooktop, but you'll pay for it sooner or later... a classic case of pay once, cry once. After extend use in 4x4 and off-grid situations, you can expect a residential cooktop's solder joints to fail and its standard fasteners to loosen -- it's destined for the bin.
These reasons laid out above should be enough to consider the Safiery Induction Cooktop for your camper build. But there are a few more solid advantages to consider. The Safiery features a German Schott Ceren Black Crystal plate. This ceramic glass top is easy to clean and incredibly durable, and its touch sensor controls are intuitive and easy to use, with a built-in child safety lock.
You will need induction-specific pots and pans to use with the Safiery Induction Cooktop. They are readily available from any kitchen supply store.
